Research
Gerontology increasingly emphasizes the positive aspects of aging. At the Center, we promote development of researchers from undergraduate students through senior faculty by creating opportunities for researchers to exchange ideas, funding projects, and sharing research findings through seminars and presentations.
Faculty affiliated with the de Tornyay Center for Healthy Aging come from several health science fields and conduct research ranging from basic research to clinical inquiry and systems research. Studies are conducted in a variety of settings, including both communities and organizations.
Current Aging-Related Studies
The Center funds pilot studies for faculty to conduct preliminary research related to older adults and environments that support healthy aging. The following projects have been funded in the past:
-
The Development of a Web-Based Intervention for Diabetes Self-Management
by Gail Bond, PhD, RN
- Long Term Care End of Life Outcome Measures
by Carol Leppa, PhD, RN
